How do you shave down there?
Shaving can be the most difficult of all hair removal methods. We've spent a lot of time researching the best ways to provide soft and silky skin. We recently tackled common mistakes when shaving our legs, how to fix them, and the best way to shave our faces. Also, we discovered the truth about shaving and making your hair thicker. We'll be discussing how to shave the pubic and bikini areas. Ingrown hairs, razor burns, and nicks can all feel worse there. Amy McLain, master esthetician, Esthetics Director Education at Kenneth's Hair Salons & Day Spas, explains all the tricks and tips to ensure a safe, effective shave in the bikini area.
Tip #1: Use Acids to Exfoliate Your Skin Gently
McLain says that exfoliating the skin is one of the best ways to prepare your skin for shaving. McLain says this will remove dead skin cells and allow for smooth shaving. She says that this will reduce the chance of ingrown hairs. The Fur Silk Scrub is made with glycolic acid and lactic acids. It is dermatologically and sexually tested to remove dead skin cells gently.

Tip #2: Do not shave the same spot multiple times
McLain says, "Keep in mind that this is a blade to your face." McLain says that each pass is exfoliating your skin. This is an area of your body that is sensitive. You want to avoid over-exfoliating your skin, which could irritate.
Tip #3: Use shaving cream as a guide
McLain says, "I recommend a conditioning emollient or shaving cream." This will soften your hair and allow you to see what you have done.
Tip #4: Use Natural Ingredients to Soothe Razor Burns and Irritation
McLain recommends using products that contain ingredients like aloe, coconut oil, and witch hazel to soothe and calm your post-shaving issues. Kiehl's Post Shave Repair Gel is our favourite because its light formula soothes the skin and reduces razor burn. It also contains aloe vera, which helps to soothe and hydrate the skin.

Tip #5 - Let the Area Breathe After Shave
McLain says, "I also recommend clients to avoid activities that involve lots of sweating or friction (think: running) if they are prone to razor burn." McLain says that too much sweating or friction can lead to more problems. It is essential to let the area cool down and breathe before you engage in these activities.
Tip #6 - Use a Razor with Multiple Blades
McLain explains that a razor with multiple blades can remove more hair in fewer passes. The Billie Razor is made up of five stainless steel blades. It is also encased with charcoal shaving soap for a close shave. To avoid dull blades, make sure you change your razors often.

Tip #7: Don't shave every day
McLain says, "I advise clients not to shave daily." It's too harsh on the skin. It's better to take it off every two or three days.
